was born in Kansas City where he began playing football at the high school level. During his tenure in high school, Colon received many accolades which led him to receiving a full ride scholarship to the University of Missouri. Accolades included: All District Running Back (Junior and Senior Year) All District Safety (Junior and Senior Year) All – Kansas Defensive Back (Junior and Senior Year) and MVP (Senior Year).

 

Upon entering the University of Missouri, Colon quickly showed his talents by competing for a starting position. During his campaign at Mizzou Harry led the Special Teams in tackles his 10omore, Junior and Senior year, broke the single season tackle record for Defensive Backs with 111 total tackles, led the team in interceptions, consensus All – Big Eight, voted to Football News All-American team, team MVP, team captain and a Jim Thorpe Award Finalist for the nations best Defensive Back. Colon also played in the 1990 infamous 5 down game against Colorado and received Big 8 Player of the Week for his efforts.

 

Harry Colon’s accomplishments were rewarded by the New England Patriots when they chose him with their 8th pick of the NFL draft. Colon started 14 games during his rookie year and was chosen to the defensive All- Rookie team as well as the Patriots defensive newcomer of the year. During his stay in the NFL Colon received accolades such as: Defensive MVP (Jacksonville Jaguars) Team Captain, Lead team in interceptions (Jacksonville) 1st interception in franchise history and several players of the week. (Jacksonville) Harry’s career continued until he retired in 1998 due to an injury.

 

Harry Colon has obtained a Bachelors in Sociology, a Masters of Science in Sports Management and a continuing education certificate in Business and Entrepreneurship from Stanford Graduate School of Business. Harry applied his experience as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at John H. Reagan High School in Houston, Texas where he lead the school to consecutive playoffs appearances for the first time since 1957.  The accomplishment he’s most proud of during his tenure at Reagan is that he was able to reduce the ineligibility rate to less than 5 percent. Currently, Harry is the Lead Trainer for the state of Texas for Positive Coaching Alliance.  Harry trains athletic directors, head coaches, parents and student athletes on how to make the sporting experience a positive experience that extract life lessons from sports. He also conducts workshops and clinics for the NFL and Nike. By conducting workshops through out the nation, the Super Bowl and NFL Hall of Frame week he continues to have an indelible impact on sports and the youth.
